Pirates fall short against Blitz (23 Sep 2013)
Pirates 12 - 16 Blitz
It was severe case of déjà vu for East Kilbride as they lost out at the semi final stage of the British Championship. For the second consecutive year, they were beaten at home by reigning champions, London Blitz and again the margin of defeat was just four points.
Ugly win secures semi-final place (14 Sep 2013)
Pirates 26 - 6 Aztecs
East Kilbride progressed to the play-off semi finals on Sunday with a stuttering display against the Bristol Aztecs that falls into the “winning ugly” category. As their usual home venue of Hamilton Rugby Club was unavailable, this match-up was played on the artificial surface at Garscube Sports Complex.
While the combination of a slippery, unfamiliar surface, the heavy rain and gusting winds all contributed to the performance, the biggest single factor was the outrageous number of penalties that the team conceded. Referees' flags flew on no fewer than 22 occasions, giving away a total of 235 yards on the day.
Pirates complete perfect season (18 Aug 2013)
Pirates 63 - 0 Trojans
The Pirates' 2013 regular season drew to a close on Saturday when they played host to the West Coast Trojans. The two Scottish sides find themselves at opposite ends of the league table, and with East Kilbride having already won convincingly in Troon earlier in the year, it was no real surprise that they went on to win this one comfortably to cement their unbeaten campaign.
