Women’s team flag football taster – Tuesday 2 August, 7pm

July 11th, 2016

P1080411Fancy trying a new sport? The East Kilbride Pirates Women’s team are holding another flag football taster session on Tuesday 2 August from 7pm – 8.30pm on Glasgow Green, meeting on the corner near West bar.

No experience or equipment is needed and we’ll teach you everything you need to know.

We launched our women’s only team in September 2015 and since then we’ve successfully completed our first year of competition are now looking to grow for the 2016/17 season!

Heather and Claire from EKPWFlag Football is a non-contact version of American Football. Our women’s team play flag football in the British American Football Association’s Opal Series tournaments from September to November.

After Christmas the team will then switch to full contact practice with pads and helmets ahead of the Sapphire series of kitted tournaments from February to April 2017. Players are welcome to take part in either flag or contact or both!

While girls and women are always welcome to take part in our other teams, our newest addition to the Pirates family was started to take advantage of the growing interest in women’s only flag and tackle football. We received funding for kit, thanks to the Big Lottery’s Awards for All scheme.

If it’s something you fancy, just show up and join in. You’ll get the chance to give it a go, meet the players and coaches and have some fun. If you decide to get involved, monthly subs cost £15 by standing order. Contact info@piratesfootball.co.uk if you need more information or have any questions.
