Women’s contact coaching staff 2019-2020

We’re delighted to announce the 2019-2020 coaching line up for our women’s contact team – led by returning Head Coach Claire Cochrane!
Our women’s contact team is gearing up to start their pre-season with a taster session on Wednesday 28 August at GHA Rugby Club. Ahead of this we’re pleased to announce the coaching staff for the 2019-2020 campaign in full!

Head coach – Claire Cochrane
We’re delighted to confirm Claire Cochrane returns to lead our women’s contact team as head coach for the 2018-2019 women’s contact season. In her debut season as Head Coach she led EKPW to its most successful season to date, finishing in third place position in Division 1 North with wins over Manchester Titans and Derby Braves. Following her playing retirement, Claire will also be coaching Running Backs in addition to heading up the coaching staff.
Claire was one of the founding members of the East Kilbride Pirates women’s contact team and on top of her four seasons of playing experience, she also has three seasons of coaching experience as Running Backs coach at the Glasgow University Tigers under her belt too.
Offensive coaches
Offensive coordinator – Neil Baptie
Neil has been with EKPW since its inception. Having played for almost a decade with the Pirates senior team where he is QB1, he takes the offensive helm at EKPW for the first time and is excited to see what this season brings.
Offensive Line – Jamie McIsaac
We are thrilled to have Jamie on the coaching staff this season. This is his debut in women’s football, but he brings a wealth of knowledge from his time as a player at both university and then senior level, where he currently plays with the Glasgow Tigers.
Receivers/Linebackers assistant – Euan Crawford
Euan is another exciting new addition to the coaching staff. Having played since 2011, his experience ranges from coaching QBs and acting as an offensive assistant at youth level to assisting coaches at University. Euan is a product of the highly successful Highland Wildcats youth and junior programme and currently plays for the Glasgow University Tigers. Despite his young years brings a breadth of knowledge.
Defensive coaches
Defensive Coordinator – Duncan Adams
We’re also delighted to welcome back Duncan for his second year as Defensive Coordinator. Duncan has been a defensive coach with university premier division powerhouse Stirling Clansmen since 2012 and was the first winner of EKPW ’s Coach of the Year award as voted on by the players. We’re excited to see what Duncan brings to our latest campaign!
Gill McNicoll – Player/Coach – Defensive Line
Gill has been at the heart of the contact team for four years as a player and sub-committee member. A strong staple on both offensive and defensive line, she’s looking to broaden her experience and share her line wisdom by joining the coaching staff.
Assistant Defensive Coach – Stephen Nicol
We welcome Stephen from within the EKP family. He has five years of experience and currently plays DB for our senior team. We’re excited to have him on board.
